To make sure you have the RIGHT size coat for your dog is very simple.

Use a measuring tape and place it on your dog's withers.  Stretch the tape to the base of your dog's tail and write down that measurement.  That will determine the LENGTH of coat.

If you have a SMALL dog or a dog that has a barrel chest or odd shape it is also best to take the following measurements:

1) Dog's withers to the point on the dogs shoulder/elbow where a coat would fit comfortably.

2)  Take a measurement around the dog's girth area

3)  Place the tape measure in the middle of the dog's chest and stretch it around their side to the middle of their butt.  (Like measuring a horse for a blanket)

The measurement down the dog's back will determine what size coat you will need.
